Contemporary Story

  My name is Sarah Leeann Silguero McAnear, I always wanted to go by Leeann but it never stuck. I am an outgoing person and literally live to have fun. I graduated from Hanna High School in 2019 where I made some of the best craziest memories in my teenage years. I am currently 19 years old and in my second year at TSC. I have one older brother, one younger brother (who people mistake as my twin), and one younger sister. My father was always away working growing up so four hyper kids were a big handful for my mother. I grew up and still live in Laguna Vista, which is about 10 minutes from South Padre Island where I spend most of my days. I love love the beach, I can literally lay there for hours, I have had the same tan since last December. I love longboarding down gulf blvd and watching my friends fall as they attempt to it.  The ocean and its marine life interest me like there is 80% of the ocean that is undiscovered, which is kinda insane. I think that is where my passion lies, understanding more about the ocean and the earth we walk on. I wanted to go into marine biology but that is a very competitive field and unrealistic for me. So I am going to be attending Texas State in the fall for advertisement because that is something I also find amusing. I work at a restaurant on the island called Tom and Jerrys saving up to be able to live independently in San Marcos. My parents have taught me to be independent but I think actually being out in the real world and not the comfort of childhood home will be a change but one for the better. I am very optimistic and look at the good of every situation and am always eager to try something new.
